Thanks in part to the OHS and the Restorations Committee, the journals of explorer C.T.Blackstone are now on permanent exhibition and soon to be open to public viewing.
Welcome to Odonatia, an island paradise for those seeking creative release. Unique and unspoiled, Odonatia offers beautiful sand beaches, cave diving, spelunking and all manner of outdoor sport.
Lured by the island's pristine waters and lush tropical foliage, hundreds of unique species of both flora and fauna thrive here, even the rare and endangered Kakapo. A large, flightless parrot reported to be the largest and heaviest in the world, the Kakapo is down to a meager 86 in total, global population and was once thought to only inhabit the forests of New Zealand. Local conservationists are working on efforts to raise funds for projects that would ensure the species survival.
Odonatian Customs will resume granting passports to those who request them in the near future. We apologize for any inconvenience to traveler's and will be posting updates as to the Planning Office's estimated release of the passports during their reorganization.
The Odonatian Cartographer’s Office is working on its archives at present time but has asured us that several maps of the island will be made available for public and private study in the near future.
“I flew in to the island at early dusk on Thursday. Navigating the small atoll at night would be next to impossible I was told; Odonatia being fairly primitive technologically, you are at your own risk. No towers to guide you in. The runway is short with only less than a dozen yards for a margin of error. I packed my cases on a collapsible dolly that over the years I have found to be indispensible ... satellite phone, camera and cataloging equipment, laptop, clothing, personal items. The museum spared no expense with my equipment. I have never failed them in my work and they learned a long time ago to outfit me well if they wanted a higher caliber of archival. Odonatia being largely unexplored by the outside world, and this being my first of four trips...”
And so begins the chronicles of resident explorer and catalogist, C.T.Blackstone. Ms. Blackstone has been gracious enough to allow public view of her journals and plans to make reproductions available of four of her journals in the future. She promises to update us as the journals are released for publication.
